The Cat Spa

A complete, repeatable workflow for a 15-second cinematic 3D pet comedy — from a single character reference to the final Seedance 2.0 render of a full automatic cat-wash, start to fluffy finish.

4 days left — then this guide lives in the vault.

The Idea

A whole automatic car-wash — but for one unbothered cat.

The joke is scale. We put one calm gray cat through a full seven-stage automatic spa — entrance, pre-rinse, foam, brushing, final rinse, drying, exit — and run every single stage inside one pearl-cream chamber in fifteen seconds. He walks in dirty and short-coated with mud on his paws and forehead; he walks out clean and luxuriously fluffy. The elaborate machinery does all the work while he just… blinks. The gap between the fussy, over-engineered treatment and his almost indifferent expression is the entire payoff. The fur only turns fluffy during the drying stage — that late reveal is the money shot. No dialogue, SFX only.

The whole trick

Never skip a stage — shorten each one. Seven readable beats in fifteen seconds sells 'a real machine doing a real job,' and holding the fluffy transformation until the drying stage makes the reveal land.

Workflow at a glance

Four steps, start to scroll-stopper.

01

Lock the cat

One clean reference showing his final fluffy identity.

02

Build key frames

Three stills: muddy entrance, foam wash, fluffy exit.

03

Animate in Seedance 2.0

Feed the ref + master prompt, render 9:16 at 15s.

1
Step One

Character reference image

Consistency is everything — the same cat, collar and bell must read in every frame. Lock one clean reference in Nano Banana (Gemini) or GPT Image showing his final look — round face, huge amber-brown eyes, pink triangular nose, pale gray muzzle, small triangular ears, long white whiskers, dark collar with a single silver bell, compact rounded body, exactly four paws and one tail. Upload it to Seedance 2.0. Because the reference shows him clean and fluffy, the prompt has to explicitly age him backward at the start: same cat, but short, flattened, scruffy fur with brown mud smudges on his paws, flanks and forehead.

The Gray Cat

The Gray Cat

The Spa Guest

Round face, huge amber-brown eyes, pink triangular nose, pale gray muzzle, pale chest and belly, small triangular ears, long white whiskers. Dark collar, one silver bell. Enters muddy and short-coated; leaves clean and luxuriously fluffy. Never frantic — just small eye movements and one satisfied smile.

Calm · curious · faintly smug

Pro move

State plainly that the coat is short and dirty at entrance, wet and sleek during washing, and fluffy ONLY after drying. His body never inflates — only the coat gains volume. That one rule keeps the reveal clean instead of turning him into a balloon.

2
Step Two

Storyboard the entrance, the wash and the fluffy exit

Before you animate, lock the arc as three stills. Using your locked cat as reference, generate the dirty setup, the foam-covered mid-point and the fluffy payoff. If those three read at a glance, the fifteen seconds will too.

FrameWhat we seePrompt focus
ENTRANCEThe dirty, short-coated cat at the open threshold, taking two steps in, one muddy pawprint left outside as the transparent door lowers behind him.Three-quarter wide shot, warm cinematic lighting, muddy fur clearly established.
THE WASHA medium side view through the transparent door: foam blanketing his back and sides, three soft round brushes on mechanical arms mid-pass, his face kept clear.Consistent side view, soft rounded machinery, calm unimpressed expression.
FLUFFY EXITThe clean, fluffy cat outside the chamber, sitting upright with front paws tucked to his chest, looking down at his fur with a tiny satisfied smile.Three-quarter view, rounded reference silhouette, the fully lifted luxurious coat.

Here's the prompt for the WASH key frame — mid-treatment, foamed and brushed but not yet fluffy:

Key frame · THE WASH
[STYLE] Pixar-style polished 3D animation, warm cinematic lighting, soft rounded machinery, detailed animated fur. No photorealistic animals. 9:16.
[ACTION] The gray reference cat — round face, huge amber-brown eyes, dark collar with one silver bell — stands calm inside a pearl-cream spa chamber, seen in medium side view through the transparent front door. A soft blanket of white foam covers his back and sides; three soft round brushes on visible mechanical arms make a gentle pass over his flanks. His face stays clear of foam.
[STATE] Coat is wet, foamy and sleek — NOT yet fluffy. Short underlying fur. He gives one slow, unimpressed blink.
[NEGATIVE] No fluffy fur yet, no extra paws, no duplicated tail, no floating brushes, no tools passing through his body, no text or logos.

Step Three

Animate in Seedance 2.0

With your cat uploaded as an image reference, set 9:16 · 720p+ · 15s · no subtitles, and paste the full master prompt below. The stage-by-stage timeline shows the beats — the complete prompt follows underneath. The rule that makes it work: include every stage in order, just shorten each one.

TimeBeat
0:00–2:00Entrance — the dirty cat steps in from the open threshold, turns screen right, one muddy pawprint left outside; the transparent door lowers behind him.
2:00–3:50Pre-rinse — ceiling nozzles spray his back and flanks, mud loosens and drains, coat turns wet and sleek; one slow unimpressed blink.
3:50–5:00Foam — water stops, dispensers release a burst of white shampoo foam over his back and sides; face stays clear; he eyes a foam blob on his flank.
5:00–7:00Brushing — three soft round brushes lower on arms, two gentle coordinated passes work foam through the fur, then fully retract; he closes his eyes contentedly.
7:00–9:00Final rinse — nozzles carry the foam downward, suds drain through the floor; all mud and shampoo gone; clean but still wet and short-coated.
9:00–12:00Drying & fluffy transformation — side vents blow gentle air; coat dries and lifts from cheeks to shoulders, chest, belly and tail into the fluffy reference look by 11.70; door rises by 12.00.
12:00–15:00Exit & final pose — the fluffy cat walks out on all four paws, coat bouncing, sits upright with front paws tucked, looks down with a tiny satisfied smile; hold the finished pose.

🎬 The 15-second master prompt

This is the exact prompt that made the film — copy it, swap the guest (a scruffy dog, a muddy puppy) and you have your own automatic-spa series.

Master prompt · The Cat Spa
[STYLE] 15-second vertical 9:16 Pixar-style cinematic 3D animated comedy. Clearly stylized, polished 3D animation: expressive eyes, detailed animated fur, soft rounded machinery and warm cinematic lighting. No photorealistic animals. The cat remains calm, curious and comfortable throughout. Resolution 720p or higher. SFX only — no music, dialogue, narration or human voices. No captions, subtitles, logos, watermarks or end card. Exactly 15 seconds.
[REFERENCE CAT — use the uploaded gray cartoon cat as exact identity] Round face, huge amber-brown eyes, pink triangular nose, pale gray muzzle, pale chest and belly, small triangular ears, long white whiskers. Dark collar with ONE silver bell. Compact rounded body, short legs, exactly four paws and one tail. The reference shows his FINAL clean, fluffy appearance. At the beginning the SAME cat has short, flattened, scruffy gray fur with visible brown mud smudges on his paws, flanks and forehead. Preserve his face and underlying body proportions. His coat becomes fluffy ONLY during drying.
[MACHINE] One pearl-cream spa chamber with a transparent vertically lifting front door. Gray perforated drainage floor, soft overhead lighting, ceiling water nozzles, foam dispensers, three soft round brushes on retractable arms, and side drying vents. All treatment happens inside this SAME chamber. No conveyor, teleportation or changing-room layout.
[PACING] Include EVERY stage in this exact order: entrance → pre-rinse → foam → brushing → final rinse → drying → exit. Shorten each stage without skipping it. Use brisk, readable animation rather than unnatural fast-forward. Complete the exit and final pose within 15 seconds.
[TIMELINE] 0.00–2.00 ENTRANCE: three-quarter wide shot; the dirty short-coated cat already at the open threshold takes two quick natural steps inside and turns to face screen right; one muddy pawprint remains outside; his whole body and tail clear the doorway; the transparent door lowers gently behind him. · 2.00–3.50 PRE-RINSE: cut to a medium side view through the door; ceiling nozzles spray gentle water on his back and flanks; mud visibly loosens and drains through the floor; keep water off his eyes, nose and ears; coat becomes wet and sleek; one slow unimpressed blink. · 3.50–5.00 FOAM: water stops; foam dispensers release white shampoo foam in a short burst; a soft blanket spreads over his back and sides; face stays clear; he glances at a foam blob on his flank. · 5.00–7.00 BRUSHING: foam stops; three soft round brushes lower on visible mechanical arms and make two quick gentle coordinated passes over his back and flanks; foam spreads through the fur; keep brushes away from head, collar and tail; he briefly closes his eyes in contentment; brushes fully retract before rinsing. · 7.00–9.00 FINAL RINSE: ceiling nozzles activate again; water carries the white foam downward; suds drain through the perforated floor; by the end all mud and shampoo are gone; cat is clean but still wet and short-coated; water shuts off. · 9.00–12.00 DRYING & FLUFFY TRANSFORMATION: side vents blow gentle drying air; show moving fur and whiskers without graphic wind lines; his damp coat progressively dries and lifts — first cheeks, then shoulders, chest, belly and tail — expanding into the soft, rounded, luxurious appearance of the reference; his body does not inflate, only the coat gains volume; he widens his eyes slightly as his cheeks become fluffy; transformation complete by 11.70; airflow stops and the front door rises fully by 12.00. · 12.00–15.00 EXIT & FINAL POSE: cut to a three-quarter view outside the chamber; the clean fluffy cat turns toward the open doorway and walks out on all four paws; his coat bounces softly with each step; he stops just outside and sits upright, hind paws supporting him with front paws tucked close to his fluffy chest; he looks down at his clean fur with a tiny satisfied smile; match the reference's rounded silhouette; hold the finished pose for the final half-second.
[COMEDY] The elaborate treatment contrasts with his almost indifferent expression. Use small eye movements and one subtle satisfied smile. No frantic struggling or exaggerated distress.
[EDIT & CAMERA] Keep the washing stages in a consistent side view so each action is easy to follow. Use cuts only to improve framing, never to omit a treatment stage. Entrance and exit in three-quarter views.
[GAZE] He watches the machine, the foam, the doorway and his own fur. No direct eye contact with the camera.
[AUDIO — SFX ONLY] Pawsteps, a delicate bell jingle, door motor, water spray, bubbling foam, brush swishes, drainage and soft drying airflow. Synchronize each sound with its stage. No music, dialogue, narration or human voices.
[CONTINUITY / NEGATIVE] One cat, one chamber, one collar, one silver bell. Preserve his face, gray fur markings and amber-brown eyes. Short dirty fur at entrance, wet sleek fur during washing, fully fluffy fur only after drying. Tools extend and retract from visible mounts. No extra paws, duplicated tails, floating brushes or tools passing through his body. The door closes only after his tail clears it; he exits only after the door is fully raised. No captions, subtitles, logos, watermarks or end card.

Step Four

Sound, title & publish

The render is 80% of it. These finishing touches are what make it feel like a studio drop.

Stage-synced SFX only

Layer each sound to its stage: pawsteps and a delicate bell jingle at the entrance · door motor · water spray on the rinses · bubbling foam · soft brush swishes · drainage gurgle · gentle drying airflow. No music, no dialogue, no narration.

Gold title card

Open on a clean title: "THE CAT SPA" + subtitle "Cinematic 3D AI cartoon short," matching your studio style. Keep it off the wash stages so nothing covers the reveal.

Publish for Reels

9:16, hook in the first 0.5s on the muddy cat stepping in. Caption with a comment-gate: "Comment SPA for the full guide."

Protect the reveal

Hold the fluffy transformation until the drying stage — if the coat puffs early, the ending has nothing to land. Keep him sleek and wet through rinse and brushing, then let the fur lift on the vents.

Quality checklist

Before you hit publish

  • The cat matches his reference in every beat — same face, collar and single silver bell (identity consistency)
  • All seven stages appear in order — entrance, pre-rinse, foam, brushing, final rinse, drying, exit — none skipped
  • Coat state is correct throughout: short and dirty in, wet and sleek during washing, fluffy only after drying
  • Everything happens inside one pearl-cream chamber — no conveyor, teleport or scene change
  • Calm-guest comedy reads: elaborate machine vs his indifferent expression and one satisfied smile
  • SFX only, synced to each stage — no music, dialogue, subtitles or on-screen text
  • 9:16, 15 seconds, 720p or better; door closes only after his tail clears and he exits only once it's fully raised
