A complete, repeatable workflow for a 15-second cinematic 3D one-room comedy — from character reference images to the final Seedance 2.0 render.

The Idea

An epic action standoff over a tiny spider.

The funniest tension is the kind that's completely out of proportion. Sam spots a tiny house spider on the lampshade and treats it like a final boss: slipper raised like a sword, combat crouch, sweat rolling, neon-noir lighting and lightning flashes selling life-or-death stakes. The spider, meanwhile, could not care less — it tilts its head, strolls two steps, and sits on the rim of his mug. The gap between the thriller staging and the harmless threat is the whole joke. And of course, there's a second spider. No dialogue — cartoon SFX only.

The whole trick

Build maximum tension over a minimum threat, all in one room. Light it like a thriller, stage it like an action movie — then keep the nemesis tiny and calm. The mismatch is the comedy.

Step One

Character reference images

Consistency is everything — the same face, body and room must appear in every frame. Lock two clean references — the terrified hero and the calm little spider — in Nano Banana (Gemini) or GPT Image, then upload both into Seedance 2.0. Because the whole video happens in one room, also keep your environment consistent so the lamp, couch and window read the same throughout.

Sam

Sam

The Terrified Hero

Wild messy hair, oversized round glasses, grey tee, hugely expressive panic. Treats the spider like a final boss — slipper raised, combat crouch, sweating.

The Spider

The Spider

The Tiny Nemesis

A small, almost cute cartoon house spider with big innocent eyes. Perches calmly, tilts its head, strolls. The mismatch with Sam's terror is the joke.

Calm · innocent · unbothered

Pro move

Make the spider faintly adorable, not scary. The cuter and calmer it is, the more absurd Sam's all-out battle reads — and the more shareable the standoff becomes.

Step Two

Storyboard the sighting, the standoff and the truce

Before you animate anything, lock the story as three stills. Using your locked characters as reference, generate the setup, the action peak and the ending. If these three read at a glance, the video will too.

FrameWhat we seePrompt focus
SIGHTINGSam frozen mid-step, eyes widening at the spider on the lampshade; lightning flash through the rainy window.Slow dramatic zoom, neon-noir contrast, thriller staging on a tiny threat.
STANDOFFSam in a combat crouch, slipper raised like a sword, sweat rolling; the spider calmly tilts its head.Low-angle hero shot, dramatic shadows, the calm-vs-panic mismatch.
TRUCESam panting, defeated, slipper lowered; the spider perched on the rim of his mug, almost friendly.Intimate two-shot, warm lamp glow, the quiet beat before the second-spider punchline.

Here's the prompt for the STANDOFF key frame — the combat crouch:

[NEGATIVE] Maximum tension over a tiny threat. No text, no logos, no inconsistent identity.

🎬 The 15-second master prompt

This is the whole thing — copy it, swap the tiny nemesis (moth, mouse, roomba) and you have your own one-room standoff series.

Master prompt · The Spider Standoff
[STYLE] Pixar / Illumination-inspired 3D animated comedy with thriller staging, exaggerated but clean cartoon anatomy, hugely expressive faces, neon-noir lighting, rain-streaked windows, glossy render, shallow depth of field, dramatic shadows. The whole story plays like a tense action standoff over a tiny harmless spider. Duration: 15 seconds. Aspect ratio: 9:16. Resolution: 720p or higher. No dialogue. No speech. No subtitles. No logos. Cartoon SFX only.
[CHARACTERS — use the 2 uploaded reference images] SAM (The Terrified Hero): a lanky young man in his early 20s with wild messy dark hair, oversized round glasses, a fitted grey/black tee, expressive panic-stricken face, exaggerated wide eyes. Treats the spider like a final boss: combat crouch, slipper raised like a weapon, sweating, trembling, fully committed to an epic battle. Lovable and funny, never pathetic.THE SPIDER (The Tiny Nemesis): a small, almost cute cartoon house spider with big innocent eyes, perched calmly — on the lampshade, the wall, the rim of a mug. Utterly unbothered, occasionally tilting its head. The contrast between its calm and Sam's terror is the whole joke.
[ENVIRONMENT] A cozy apartment living room at night during a rainstorm. A warm lamp, a worn couch, a bookshelf, an old TV, a radiator, a mug on the table. Rain streaking the window, distant city lights, cool blue moonlight fighting the warm lamp glow. Neon-noir contrast, single confined room.
[MOOD] Maximum thriller tension over a minimum threat. Sam treats it like a life-or-death standoff; the spider could not care less. Tension real, comedy huge, stakes hilariously imaginary.
[TIMELINE] 0:00–0:02 THE SIGHTING: Sam freezes mid-step, spots the spider on the lampshade, slow dramatic zoom on his widening eyes, lightning flash through the window. · 0:02–0:05 THE ARM-UP: Sam slowly, theatrically picks up a slipper, raises it like a sword, combat crouch, sweat bead rolling, thriller music building. · 0:05–0:08 THE CIRCLING: tense standoff — Sam edges around the room in a crab-walk, eyes locked, the spider calmly tilts its head and strolls two steps; Sam flinches hard. · 0:08–0:11 THE FAKE-OUT: Sam winds up for a huge strike — the spider drops on a thread an inch, Sam yelps silently and leaps back into the couch, slipper flying. · 0:11–0:13 THE TRUCE: panting, defeated, Sam lowers the slipper; the spider sits on the rim of his mug, unbothered, almost friendly. · 0:13–0:15 PUNCHLINE: Sam slowly slides the whole mug — spider aboard — out the window, exhales, then notices a SECOND spider on his shoulder. Freeze-frame on his frozen scream.
[CAMERA] Slow dramatic zoom on the sighting; low-angle hero shot as he arms up; tense tracking during the circling; whip-pan on the fake-out leap; intimate two-shot at the truce; sudden push-in on the second-spider punchline; final static comedy frame.
[LIGHTING] Neon-noir: warm lamp glow vs cool blue moonlight, rain shadows streaking across faces and walls, occasional lightning flashes, glossy highlights on the wet window and Sam's glasses.
[AUDIO] Cartoon SFX only: a thriller string sting on the sighting, tense ticking build, a "shhk" as the slipper rises, dramatic footstep creaks, a silent-yelp "gulp," a comedic "boing" on the leap, a soft exhale at the truce, a sharp horror sting on the second spider. No speech, no subtitles.
[NEGATIVE] No subtitles, no logos, no on-screen text, no dialogue, no realistic gore, no squashing on screen, no inconsistent identity, no changing faces or rooms — keep it cartoonish, tense and comedic.

Step Four

Sound, title & publish

The render is 80% of it. These finishing touches are what make it feel like a studio drop.

Cartoon SFX only

Layer a thriller string sting on the sighting · tense ticking build · a "shhk" as the slipper rises · a "boing" on the leap · a soft exhale at the truce · a sharp horror sting on the second spider. No dialogue.

Gold title card

Open on a gritty title: "THE SPIDER STANDOFF" + subtitle "Cinematic 3D AI cartoon mini-story," matching your studio style.

Publish for Reels

9:16, hook in the first 0.5s on the sighting. Caption with a comment-gate: "Comment SPIDER for the full guide."

Sell the stakes

Light and score it like a real thriller — neon-noir, lightning, rising strings. The more seriously the camera takes it, the funnier the tiny calm spider becomes.

Quality checklist

Before you hit publish

  • Both characters look identical to their reference images in every beat (identity consistency)
  • The room stays consistent — same lamp, couch, window throughout
  • Clear mismatch: thriller staging vs a tiny, calm, harmless spider
  • Sam's arc reads instantly: terror → over-committed battle → defeat → fresh horror
  • Cartoon SFX only — no dialogue, no subtitles, no on-screen text
  • Strong first 2 seconds (the sighting + lightning) so it stops the scroll
  • 9:16, 15 seconds, 720p or better, gold title used sparingly
